SAMO Duo Jean-Michel Basquiat and Al Diaz, Halloween 1977

"We were dressed in punkish attire. Nothing specific.
JMB has his face painted silver. I’m sporting a belt buckle made from a cop's hat badge I snatched out of a patrol car some years earlier. I still remember it was a green and white VALIANT!! Open windows. Just snatched the hat. He left it on the dashboard. Sangano!!! I really like my belts and wristwatches. Old school mentality. Nice way to show off being an ATREVIDO !!
The hat snatching had occurred YEARS prior to the photo. 77 photo. 74-75 snatched the hat. I was alone when I did that. I tagged the car as well, BOMB1 pre SAMO. I should have taken a selfie but cellphones were about 40 years away.”- Al Diaz

Sunny Acres pig roast in the summer of 1950

"This is a photo with some family members and Sunny Acres guests. In the early days of the villa, the guests participated in pig roasts, as seen in this photo. This was a popular way to feed small groups of people but as the popularity of the villa increased, the owners hired a cook for the season to feed larger numbers of visitors.”
